# SendKit vs Instantly: which cold email platform fits your outbound?

SendKit vs Instantly compared: shared vs dedicated IPs, mailboxes, lead data, MCP and maintenance. When to pick each, from a team that uses SendKit.

*By Floris Jansen, founder of Vectify*

**Disclosure:** SendKit is a partner of ours and the sending platform we use at Vectify, and the SendKit links in this post are referral links, so I have a stake in this comparison. I've tried to be fair to Instantly, and I've checked every claim about it against Instantly's own public pages.

**Short answer:** If you want to run a cold email campaign and that's all, Instantly is a great choice. If you want to build a full acquisition channel out of cold email, [SendKit](https://app.sendkit.ai/ref/vectify) is the better fit, as long as someone who knows deliverability maintains it.

This comparison is for heads of sales, outbound leads and the ops people who pick the sending platform. It covers infrastructure, mailboxes, data, AI access and maintenance. It leaves out cost, which changes often. Check each vendor's site for current plans.

## Why the choice matters more than it looks

A sending platform decides three things you can't fix later with better copy. Whose reputation your emails ride on, how fast you can replace a mailbox or IP that goes bad, and how much control you have when something breaks. For a single campaign, these barely matter. For a channel that has to produce meetings every month, they decide whether it keeps working.

## What Instantly does well

I'll start with the good points, because there are plenty.

- **IP rotation built in.** On its higher plans, Instantly runs what it calls SISR (Server & IP Sharding and Rotation). It assigns server and IP blocks for you and swaps flagged IPs out. You don't have to manage any of it.
- **Mailbox setup done for you.** Instantly sells done-for-you Google inboxes. It sets up MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC and adds the accounts to your workspace within a few days.
- **A built-in lead database.** You can find prospects inside the same tool you send from, with enrichment on top.
- **An MCP server.** Instantly has an official hosted MCP server that exposes its API. You can manage campaigns, leads and analytics from an AI assistant like Claude or Cursor.

For a team that wants one tool to find leads, buy inboxes and send a campaign, that's a strong package. It's quick to get started.

## Where Instantly falls short for a full channel

- **Shared infrastructure by default.** In my experience, the biggest risk is sharing sending reputation with other senders. If someone else burns it, you're affected too. Instantly does offer dedicated IP pools through SISR, but only on its higher tiers and enterprise plans, not on its entry plans. Check which plan you're on.
- **Mailboxes come through a provider layer.** Instantly's done-for-you inboxes are Google accounts it provisions for you, and the page lists them under "Instantly partners". That's convenient, but you have less say in how the mailbox layer is built and swapped out.

None of this makes Instantly a bad tool. It's built so anyone can use it, and that suits campaigns better than channels.

## What SendKit does well

- **Dedicated IPs.** Every SendKit account gets its own IP and an isolated sending environment. Your reputation is yours, and another customer can't damage it.
- **A strong MCP.** We use SendKit through AI agents every day, and its MCP is one of the best parts of the product.
- **Clean UI, fast setup.** You can go from sign-up to sending without a long onboarding.
- **Email validation included.** You validate lists before you send, in the same tool.
- **Mailboxes from InboxKit.** InboxKit, SendKit's sister company, provides the mailboxes, so the mailbox layer and the sending platform are designed to work together.

## Where SendKit falls short

- **Changing a burned IP can take time.** Because the IP is dedicated to you, a burned one isn't silently rotated out of a shared pool. Changing it can take up to a day.
- **You're in full control, so you need a specialist.** SendKit gives you the controls rather than hiding them. That's the point, but someone who understands deliverability has to maintain domains, mailboxes, warmup and placement. Without that person, the control becomes a burden.

## Who should pick which

**Pick Instantly** if you're testing cold email, running a single campaign or sending at modest volume, and you don't have a deliverability specialist. You get leads, inboxes and sending in one place, and it's quick to set up.

**Pick [SendKit](https://app.sendkit.ai/ref/vectify)** if cold email has to become a lasting source of net-new meetings for your sales team. That's an acquisition channel, not a one-off campaign. You'll want your own IP reputation, mailboxes you control and validation built in. Do it only if someone with deliverability experience maintains it, either in-house or a partner like us.

Either way, the platform only matters once you know who to send to and what to say. Before choosing a tool, it helps to know how big your untapped market is. Our free **Untapped Market Report** estimates how many potential buyers you're not reaching yet, built for your company.

## FAQ

Is SendKit better than Instantly?

For building a full acquisition channel with a specialist maintaining it, I think so, but SendKit is a partner of ours, so weigh that. For a single campaign or simple sending, Instantly is a great choice.

Does Instantly use shared or dedicated IPs?

By default, sending reputation is shared. Instantly's SISR system assigns dedicated IP pools and rotates flagged IPs, but only on its higher tiers and enterprise plans. Check the plan you're comparing.

Can I manage Instantly or SendKit with AI agents?

Yes. Both have an MCP server, so tools like Claude or Cursor can manage campaigns, leads and analytics.

Do I need a deliverability specialist to use SendKit?

To run it as a channel, yes. SendKit gives you full control over IPs, mailboxes and warmup, and that control needs someone who knows how to use it.

Where do the mailboxes come from?

Instantly sells done-for-you Google inboxes that it sets up and adds to your account. SendKit works with mailboxes from InboxKit, SendKit's sister company and a partner platform.
